[00:00:00] Speaker A: Welcome to Awake with Vivek where we explore the deep connection between mind, body and the self to understand and truly live a conscious life. Today we dive deeper into inner transformation, holistic well being and the timeless art of living in harmony. Our guest today began a profound spiritual journey at a young age, diving deep into the ancient wisdom of yoga and meditation. Today he is a visionary teacher, an international wellness leader and a mentor who has transformed thousands of lives globally through his signature program, Rhythm of Life. Please welcome the incredible yogacharya Sanjeev Krishnan. Namaste. [00:00:44] Speaker B: Namaste. Thank you Vivek. Good to see you again. [00:00:47] Speaker A: Yeah, it's good to see you again. Guruji. Your tagline, enlightening, igniting knowledge and enlightening lives. Is knowledge enough to get enlightened, Guruji? [00:00:59] Speaker B: See knowledge is just an information. Wisdom is what becomes experiential knowledge. So more you experience life, the more you gain wisdom. Reading a book is knowledge, but experiencing it is what makes a difference. Now for example, knowing meditation, everyone knows meditation. But doing it on a regular basis and experiencing the benefit of it is what is wisdom. So enlightening means how you use that information to experience yourself as a person. That is what is enlightening. So once you enlighten, you ignite, right? [00:01:44] Speaker A: So the knowledge that we get from let's say our scriptures, let's say from the gurus that we have to apply it and then experience it. And there is where we start towards the path of enlightenment is that. [00:01:59] Speaker B: See for example if you really see, what do you mean by guru? Guru is made up of two words, Gu and ru. Guru doesn't mean all the teachers or masters know. Gu means your ignorance. Ru means how you enlighten it. So actually your true teacher is your ignorance. Your real teacher is your own ignorance. So whenever I am ignorant, I experience pain, suffering. And then you enlighten out of that knowledge. [00:02:35] Speaker A: Beautiful. [00:02:37] Speaker B: You understood. So all other gurus are gps only pathway, global positioning system. That's it. Gu is the real essence of ignorance. For example, that's what we say. If you observe a small kid, they always have enquiry mind. They ask hundreds of questions. We are the parents who tell them. Listen to what I say. My father did, my grandfather did, you also do. They don't understand. So you stop them from enquiry, you suppress them. But a real evolution of a human life happens when there are six steps, okay? One is have an inquiry mind. Ask questions about everything, existence, everything. Me, my life, children ask hundred questions. No be a child. Then when you are having that enquiry mindset. Then you become a seeker of knowledge. When you are a seeker of knowledge every person or everything around you is your teacher. That's what there's a beautiful Shloka. It says Akand Mandala Karam. Under the canopy of the sky there are living and non living things. Tatpadam darshitam yena. Whichever gives me knowledge, that's my teacher. So when everyone is a teacher, why you should fight with your teachers? They're all giving you knowledge. Animals, birds, insects, everything gives you knowledge. The whole science of yoga and Ayurvedas come from Prakriti. Nature. Right, Nature. So they are our teachers. We are just observant. You see a grass, you think about hundred headaches. In your head you don't think about see the grass. [00:04:38] Speaker A: Exactly. [00:04:39] Speaker B: Yeah. So many things. You are not conscious of anything around let alone seeking knowledge. [00:04:49] Speaker A: Guruji, your spiritual name is Shri Aditya Varnan. What's the story behind that? [00:04:54] Speaker B: Story behind is actually in this we say we come with a transcendence of knowledge from different teachers. So your teachers give you a name according to what they see in you. [00:05:10] Speaker A: Okay. So Aditya the sun. [00:05:13] Speaker B: Aditya is like a sun's rays. Rays have immense of rainbow colors. So different dimensions of knowledge portrays to ignite the world. So that essence of knowledge on all dimensions is what it is. This is what the Guru came. [00:05:39] Speaker A: Guruji wanted to ask you. What does it mean to live your life with greater awareness? [00:05:44] Speaker B: See, as I explained to you just now. Now when you are talking to me, can you do anything else? [00:05:51] Speaker A: Nothing. [00:05:52] Speaker B: But if you observe even when you are talking to me, mind is running somewhere. [00:05:56] Speaker A: Correct. [00:05:56] Speaker B: Yes, correct. [00:05:59] Speaker A: It does. [00:05:59] Speaker B: Now you are having bath. You are thinking of how to get out and finish so many other things. [00:06:05] Speaker A: And during bath it is too much. [00:06:07] Speaker B: You don't enjoy. Some people sing during they are having bath. You know they sing during bath. They are relaxed. [00:06:16] Speaker A: Bathroom singers. Yeah. [00:06:17] Speaker B: Bathroom singers are relaxed. [00:06:19] Speaker A: Relaxed. [00:06:19] Speaker B: But many a time it's in a rush, rush, rush. So if you really observe nowadays even when you're eating your food, you're looking at your mobile. When eating your food, you don't even thank the person who made it for you. You just eat. And because you eat fast, you you get unhealthy issues. Also when you are angry, we say don't eat because the food becomes poison. So anything that you do and you have the mindset to be involved in that action. That is meditation. [00:06:55] Speaker A: Oh amazing. [00:06:57] Speaker B: Meditation is not sitting here watching the moon. Nothing. There are different types of Meditation. But all these meditations can be segregated into four divisions. Meditation for relaxation, meditation for increasing the power of your mind by concentration. Meditation for expansion of consciousness and meditation of being with your true human ethical nature. [00:07:22] Speaker A: Amazing. [00:07:23] Speaker B: Now, for example, you love to sing or paint or dance or cook. When you enjoy something, you are passionate about it. You don't have to think about meditation for relaxation. You're already relaxed and you're involved in that singing or dancing, you enjoy it. So meditation for relaxation is set in the activity called singing, walking, driving, enjoying it. [00:07:49] Speaker A: Right. But isn't it supposed to mean that we have to silence our thoughts, keep our mind empty? [00:07:55] Speaker B: That's what, when you master this, every action of yours is inner silence. [00:08:00] Speaker A: Beautiful. [00:08:02] Speaker B: See, today we are more worried about the external disturbances, noises. Why? Your internal calmness is not set. So you get carried away by the external noises. But if you are internally calm, you have developed more confidence, more courage, more determination, power of the mind. Then it is much bigger than the external disturbances. So nothing bothers you. [00:08:29] Speaker A: But our senses continuously demand, or you know, the attention the world demands. Our senses automatically go towards it. And we are constantly capturing that information. Now it's very hard to, you know, stop that or even to even kind of stay away from it. Because when I wake up in the morning, I see there are 10 notifications and I have to check what is what, what is what? Isn't it important? Is it not? Rather, I would probably be just sitting and meditating. Maybe. But the first thing we do is wake up and watch the mobile. [00:09:08] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:09:09] Speaker A: Now the world is demanding our attention. [00:09:13] Speaker B: World will always demand. That doesn't mean you have to do that. For example, you get up in the morning, it's time for you. Why you go and check your mobile? Hundreds of years they were not having any mobile. They were enjoying life. So if you see, the main important aspect of a human being to silence and get to himself within is discipline. Discipline. If you see, look at Mother Nature. The sun is disciplined. The air is giving you air. It's disciplined. Sunset, disciplined. Moon. In time, everything is disciplined. And you are living in a house where you have to follow the circadian rhythm. You cannot live the way you want. Now for example, I come to your house and stay in your house. You are the host, I am the guest. Can I do whatever I want in your house? After three days you will say, guruji, please carry on. Why? I have to follow as per the rules of your house. Then I am independent and I have the freedom to do whatever I want according to the system. Likewise we all human beings are living in this universe called our home. So we have to follow the circadian rhythm. And your food, seasonal fruits. Air is given free to you. Water is freely given. Space is given. Even your name. You have no choice. Parents, you have no choice. The country, you have no choice. In fact, you have no choice for anything. That means no free will. That means that's also free for you. Now, when everything is so freely given, why are humans suffering? Think about it. This is where I have written this book on decode global wellness. [00:11:25] Speaker A: Correct. [00:11:26] Speaker B: All the subjects required for you to understand how you can decode and gain the wellness for the whole world. Nature has not bifurcated distance or compartmentalized anything. It's free. Why? Humans create distinction compartments and then fight among themselves for what? [00:11:51] Speaker A: You know, this ancient knowledge, wisdom and the understanding experience. If all of us had, probably we would be living in a much better world. But this book is definitely going to be I think a great, great, great awareness for a lot of people for sure. But before we get into that, I'm sure Guruji, a lot of people come to you with many different kinds of problems. And of course you do Yoga classes every single day. Any problem you think that you know has surprised you. Maybe. [00:12:20] Speaker B: See, many thing I have seen is. Now let us take a country. A country? There are different ministerial departments, Home ministry, Finance ministry. Every ministerial department should function efficiently. True. Then you don't have to do anything. The country will grow. Same as the case of a company. When a company's departments functions efficiently, there's no choice but the company to grow. Same is the case of families. Every member in a family have certain responsibilities and duties. If a child studies responsibly, executes things beautifully then the family will enjoy being with him. Correct? [00:13:12] Speaker A: Correct. [00:13:13] Speaker B: Now what makes a family or a company or a country is individuals. Individuals have five dimensions which people don't realize. One is your physical body. Your physical body is determined how well you are knowledgeable about food, your health, your well being. Many of them don't have this. No one teaches them. So they mess it up. Breath. Air is free. Your lung capacity is immense. But we don't breathe properly. We just sustain body. And breath is only making you a living vegetable. Because only two dimensions are functional. Third is called the mind. Mind is only emotions. But emotions are directly proportional to knowledge. If I am ignorant, I talk stupidity. If I am knowledgeable, I talk with maturity. Correct. So how well you gain knowledge is the only difference among human beings. So the more and more knowledgeable, the more and more you encompass the world. Absolutely less knowledgeable. You are narrow minded. Everything is narrow outlook. You fight with everyone in the world. So these five dimensions everyone needs to know from the fundamental base. And then when you're in harmony, you go home, your wife will see that you are happy. [00:14:46] Speaker A: Right? [00:14:47] Speaker B: Otherwise you say don't talk to me, leave me alone. Why you are not in harmony. So when you are not in harmony, how can a child come to you? [00:14:58] Speaker A: This is just the household we are talking about. Imagine the whole society. Imagine the whole country. [00:15:04] Speaker B: That's what I'm telling. It starts with you. Not the people outside. You are the crux. You take responsibility for your health, for your breath, for your emotions. By enhancing knowledge. You ask me enlightening knowledge. This is knowledge. Knowledge on all aspects of food. What to eat, when to eat, how to eat. Because you have a mobile. Letters say you get an instructor's manual. How many of us read the instructor's manual? [00:15:38] Speaker A: Nobody. [00:15:39] Speaker B: Nobody. Unless you really want to know something. [00:15:42] Speaker A: Yeah. Maybe if it's for a car, yeah. But not for a mobile. [00:15:44] Speaker B: But human beings. We also get our basics from parents, from a culture. But over a period of time you become independent to live. At that time you do not to face certain situations. Then you run to other people and you become dependent. What I am telling is every human being should know about himself first. [00:16:08] Speaker A: Correct. [00:16:09] Speaker B: That's why this book is there. It gives you all essence of knowledge. [00:16:14] Speaker A: Right? So if you had to decode your new book Global wellness, how many chapters and what are the knowledge that we can. [00:16:20] Speaker B: It's about 300 pages book. And all aspects of what this world is. The earth is. [00:16:29] Speaker A: Oh wow. [00:16:30] Speaker B: Everything. All the details are there. So say generally we know the world but what is it? So if you see atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, geosphere. Now the same concept. If you see in your body is all the same. [00:16:48] Speaker A: Correct. [00:16:50] Speaker B: You are having water. Your mind is atmosphere. Whatever mindset you have, that's your mindset. Your body is 72% water. [00:17:00] Speaker A: Correct. [00:17:01] Speaker B: Biosphere. Your body is system working. And the fundamental basis this knowledge. So you as a person is a miniature earth. That's why overall in olden time they say you are Pindhanda means microcosm of the macro. Cause Brahmanda. [00:17:18] Speaker A: Beautiful. [00:17:19] Speaker B: Yeah. So you are a part of the system. But you think you are apart from the system. [00:17:23] Speaker A: Yeah. Because it doesn't feel like. [00:17:25] Speaker B: Because you don't enquire about it. We are looking only for food, facilities, happiness, sleep, enjoy. We don't know the crux of what I AM So if you know the mobile well, you can utilize in the right manner. That's why gaining knowledge is the crux of human evolution. [00:17:50] Speaker A: So will this book guide me through hundred percent. [00:17:55] Speaker B: And I've written how to read the book. What it does not give. Everything, everything is there. It's an invitation to global wellness. Plus I have even explained what is the universe. What's the thing happening in the book? It's all there. So you are actually a part of this universe. You are a mirror of the divine. But we don't see divinity within, we look for outside divinity. It's inside you. If you see air, air is the crux of life. Since we do not know the value of air, we don't even breathe properly. And people destroy their lungs by polluting it with all cigarettes. Isha, pisha, whatever. So you are actually destroying the universe which is inside you. And you pray for the universe to give health, get health. This is where we don't misunderstand, but rather misunderstand the system. Yeah. And consciousness, different types of consciousness are [00:19:01] Speaker A: there [00:19:03] Speaker B: five dimensions of human. Everything is given, displayed beautifully. Then you are made up of what? And whether you know it or not, the universe is operating in you right now by the air. Air is not the air, it is energy current. Five types of current are operating in you. One is operating on your brain, functioning the five dimensions. It's continuously operating and we don't even realize. Not we, I, I, whenever I was in the class also they say we. I said, no, I, I, I don't. When you say we, we generalize. You got my point correct. [00:19:42] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:19:43] Speaker B: I don't know. This is what. And also I have written on a subject why there is so much of atrocities happening. Because human consciousness, if you observe, evolves from stones, the consciousness. We say consciousness sleeps in stones, Consciousness sleeps in stones. It awakens in plants and trees. It moves around in insects, birds and animals. And highly developed it can be in a human being. But the process of that to develop to a human being is multifaceted. So all this is given in that thing. You can even assess what consciousness you are. Fill in the blankets there. Yeah, yeah. Birth consciousness. You have no choice. What you want to do and what you are doing is choice. And the character that you get out of it is there. [00:20:49] Speaker A: So we are eventually turn up to be the choices that we make. [00:20:54] Speaker B: Not we, I, what I make. Right. [00:20:59] Speaker A: So the choice that I made today, of course the results will come tomorrow. And that is what I am made of. [00:21:05] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. Because if you see today What I am today, what I am is what I had thought. [00:21:15] Speaker A: Correct? [00:21:16] Speaker B: What I have. That's what we say. Human beings have 10% only. Critical mind, logical mind, you know, analytical mind, judgmental mind. 90% is subconscious. Anyone can put anything. And if you are not intellectually aware, you get carried away by others. [00:21:40] Speaker A: You're right. People get influenced. [00:21:43] Speaker B: That's what is happening today. Why you are not using your brain, Someone is using your facility. You understood and you become a patra, a vessel for them. This is where human beings should have conscious living. So you are responsible for everything. If you don't take that, don't say I did not know, you suffer. [00:22:11] Speaker A: That's it. Right? [00:22:14] Speaker B: You got my point. [00:22:15] Speaker A: But Guruji, do you think to grasp this knowledge you need some grace of the divinity. [00:22:21] Speaker B: Some grace from automatically grace will come. When you have the enquiry mind. When you have a thing of seeking knowledge, knowledge will come to you. Because the universe wants. Universe wants these energies to pervade the whole. To bring balance. In this world. Today if you see why the world is suffering. If you observe, it's a very clear aspect. You know why? There are four types of people in this world. 60% are passive good people good people. Passive good. What do you mean by passive good? Everything should be good. Nice. I like it. [00:23:09] Speaker A: Wow. [00:23:10] Speaker B: Beautiful. Everything. But they do not do anything to make themselves good. They don't take responsibility. They get carried away. But they want everything good. The other 20% are people who objectively do not do anything they want. They do not do bad. But If I give 1 lakh or 1 million and put a bomb somewhere, they will put for them. It's money. It's my work. But should they do or no? They don't think about it. That's why many are using the others [00:23:47] Speaker A: to influence and do the wrong things. [00:23:51] Speaker B: 10% are aggressive bad people. Who uses this 20% passive good. 60% passive bad good. 60% passive good. 20% passive good. And the world is in chaos. How they bring a balance is aggressive good. 10% only is there. Unless and until the passive 60% becomes aggressive good. That's why to make it aggressive good, you as an individual should take responsibility. [00:24:21] Speaker A: Correct. And it starts with I, you, I. [00:24:25] Speaker B: When you take responsibility, naturally your family will be much more responsible. If I drink and go in the house, family will not respect you. That's why there's a beautiful way of understanding. That's called so Bhava and swadharma. So Bhava is the habits that you have. So Dharma is a Duty that you need to do. A child has a swadharma, he has to study. Husband has to take care of the family. That's why you got married. You took oath when marriage. [00:25:03] Speaker A: Where is that seven parasit? [00:25:06] Speaker B: All of them. The system is there. That's why taking responsibility individually can only enhance life. And it starts with you not trying to make others good or bad. No, I should take responsibility for my life. Now you said nowadays I feel more spiritual. It's a right step. Because end of the day it's only spirituality. Materialism is only to experience the spirituality inside you. [00:25:38] Speaker A: Right? But when you say 10% aggressive people or 60% passive good people, what exactly do you mean when you say aggressive good people? [00:25:53] Speaker B: Aggressive good means they always take initiative, make awareness, propagate the science and pervade the knowledge to people to make them responsible. [00:26:04] Speaker A: Okay. [00:26:05] Speaker B: If they don't make them responsible, people will not take authority for themselves. Now for example, I'll tell you. The whole world is running behind wealth. Correct? [00:26:17] Speaker A: Right. [00:26:18] Speaker B: Because they realize wealth will give everything. But end of the day they have all the wealth, no health. Correct. Then they go for health, spending all the wealth by time intake outlet is tubes. Correct. So end of the life you are thinking about health. How will you get it? What it says, understand the knowledge, be healthy. Money will come. When you have physical and mental well being, financial wealth will come, Right. But financial health will never give you physical and mental health. [00:26:57] Speaker A: Right? [00:26:58] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:59] Speaker A: But also when we talk about progress in the world, you know, there is this factor where prices of things also keep going up. And you need to build yourself in such a way that you are able to generate that kind of income after a certain level also. So this is why it's putting a lot of pressure on people to keep upskilling, upskilling. And in that entire loop, they then lose out on being healthy, being more wise. [00:27:26] Speaker B: See, I'll tell you something. If I give you every month 1 million to take care of your health plus your work, will you do it or no? [00:27:36] Speaker A: Of course. [00:27:37] Speaker B: Why? It's prioritization. Why you prioritize it? Or if I say if you do this, I'll give you the best, you will work. So how you prioritize, you get it. And that's what I told you. Physical and mental health will make you get financial health automatically. It will come. But just wealth will not give you health. See, there are millions of people who have money but can't eat properly, can't sleep properly. No values, no relationship, no one is with them. Only they are Put into hospitals and someone takes care of them. Where is your richness? Where is your wealth? End of the day. See, we all came into this world with a visit visa. Correct. The only guarantee is return ticket. Enjoy holidays. No. Why you break your head of worrying about return ticket? It's there. It will come. Enjoy your holidays happily and live your life. [00:28:51] Speaker A: Amazing. [00:28:51] Speaker B: Anyhow, we have to go. So why you worry about death or return ticket? [00:28:58] Speaker A: And that return ticket brings me to this last question. Where reaching the realization that where you came from, where you're going. And those questions are very, very deep. For me at least to understand. Spiritual discipline will eventually take you there. Is that a hope that I am [00:29:22] Speaker B: living in or no? No. It's a very basic of the knowledge. Every human being has three personalities. Gross body, subtle body and causal body. Gross body means your physical frame, your body. Now I see a cat. My perception about the cat is what I express. Ah, it's a very nice cat. You may say, oh, I don't like cats. Or I don't like this color of the cat. It's your perception. Likewise, anything and everything a human being sees in the world, they talk about their perception. It has nothing to do with the truth. Correct. That's what it is. Now you have a health issue. The science of medicine. They check your parameters of the body. They don't check what is in your head. So they treat the system. But the problem is in here. That's called subtle body. Subtle body is your ability, capacity, your strength, your weaknesses. And every day you are revolving in the knowledge. Either by pain or by enquiry, mind or by suffering, you are gaining knowledge. If you see 10 years or 11 years or 15 years down the line, today you would have seen much, matured. You understood. Next, after 10 years, you will be much more. We say not old, wise. Correct. [00:31:00] Speaker A: Wise. Getting wiser. [00:31:01] Speaker B: Getting wiser. You don't want to be called old because it gives a wrong impression. More wise, more matured. Correct. Third is called causal body. You have no choice for this. That's why I told you. Name, parents, culture, country. No one in the world has any choice. I don't understand why people are fighting with each other. No one has choice. Correct. [00:31:26] Speaker A: Correct. [00:31:27] Speaker B: So, gross body, subtle body, Causal body. Causal body. You are given everything. You are a small baby. That's why I have written in the book three universes we go through in life. One is in the womb of the mother. Second is as a child to the parents. When a womb in the mother is child, the father should be more responsible than the mother to not give her any insecurity feeling. Then the child will have no insecurity feeling. Today what's happening? You become pregnant, he goes somewhere, she is having insecurity feeling that impacts the child. And this is the generation that is coming up. Unless and until this knowledge is shared. Understood? If you want a beautiful child, you are responsible to make it good. I give you a computer. A brand new computer. What software you feed is your choice. Likewise a child is beautiful. How much and what you feed is what makes it them. You got my point? We are not different from mobile or computers. We are all the same. [00:32:47] Speaker A: Just that we can probably have a voice and talk and that's it. [00:32:51] Speaker B: Eat food, experience it. They can't experience selfishness. You can experience and evolve that only you have. [00:33:00] Speaker A: Right? Guruji, one last. Maybe a tip or an advice to everyone. Maybe one practice. If you could tell everyone, all our listeners and everyone who's watching. Maybe a breathing technique, maybe a meditation technique. If you could share some bit of knowledge for us. [00:33:14] Speaker B: Sure. I would like to say sit straight to all of you and just observe your body sitting in silence. When you are sitting in silence, it can be lying down, sitting straight, spine erect, anything. When you are sitting in silence, be a silent observer of your body. Just five minutes. Observe your head, your body, your chest, your back. Analyse yourself and also get into the sense of knowledge on how the air that is getting into your body is naturally happening. It's not you, it is naturally happening. [00:34:05] Speaker A: Correct. [00:34:07] Speaker B: And that breath is your sustenance. If you see, many people come and say I am learning yoga now. Or some people say I don't know what is this yoga or all are talking yoga. Baba, you are born in that knowledge. After you come out from your mother, first thing you did is cry. Why? You are connecting to the universe and that starts your breathing. Till the end of your life. It is your breathing. Mother Nature is giving you life. Correct, Isn't it? So what? You have started pranayama from your birth. What are you trying to say? You don't know. Again if you observe. Again if you observe. When we are very small, no parents teaches me. Mamba, you just turn around, you kneel, you walk, you run, nothing. Your body is your teacher. So you are doing stretchings. Correct. Every animal, if you see they are stretching without trainers and they are much more healthy. Correct. So every day you stretch. As simple as that. Physical stretching is only one aspect of it. But the real science is how to be harmonious in yourself. Then everything comes. That's why knowledge on health, breath, mind. Mind is a modulator of energy. If you are sad, your energy push. [00:35:51] Speaker A: Correct. [00:35:52] Speaker B: If you are happy, you don't require food, you are energetic. It all comes with knowledge. That's why there's no difference in the world between human beings. Either ignorance or knowledge. [00:36:07] Speaker A: Fantastic.
